“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.” – Bruce Lee

For those who know me, know that I’m one of the biggest Bruce Lee fan on the planet. For those who don’t know me, I will try to explain as best I can.

‘The Silent Flute’ was the last movie Bruce Lee wrote but never got to produce. There was, however, a film basesd on his script that came out in 1978 called ‘Circle of Iron’ starring David Carradine as the lead role. You can watch the entire movie on Vimeo. It was a movie about the philosophy behind Bruce Lee’s fighting method and martial arts in general. More importantly, it’s about a warrior’s journey. I follow a lot of his philosophies and teaching—I use it in my daily life.

How I approach things in life is pretty simple.

“Make time for the things you love and you'll have less time to be unhappy.”

People often ask me how I have time to do all the things I do. Basically, I have the same time you do. It’s a matter of choice. I chose to make the time for the things I find enjoyment from.

I feel like a warrior on a journey, and each battle I fight makes me stronger for the next one. If you don’t start somewhere, you’ll never get going. Life is about that journey to better ourselves. Always try new things and have as many battles in life as possible. You won’t succeed until you’ve failed a few times. It’s not about how you fall but about how you pick yourself up and keep going.

‘The Silent Flute’ by Bruce Lee:

I wish neither to possess,
Nor to be possessed.
I no longer covet paradise,
More important, I no longer fear hell.

The medicine for my suffering
I had within me from the very beginning,
But I did not take it.
My ailment came from within myself,
But I did not observe it
Until this moment.

Now I see that I will never find the light
Unless, like the candle, I am my own fuel,
Consuming myself.
